Shortly before Christmas David Rowlands of Mohindra Maini Solicitors returned from an epic journey in the Far East where he endured a charity bike ride from Ho Chi Minh City to the Angkor Wat.
The ride was in support of Regain, dedicated to supporting Britain’s tetraplegics. The event raised in excess of £100,000, the charity’s biggest ever fund raiser. Over 5 days the team numbering 64 rode 450 km before triumphantly finishing at the ancient temples of Angkor.
The ride took David from Vietnam to Cambodia through rural and historic scenery. During the ride the team experienced hot and humid conditions, frequently in excess of 34°C. The longest day covered 110km across the gargantuan Mekong delta.
David has been very impressed with the charity’s organization of the ride as well as the hospitality of local people who often let the team stop for water breaks in their own residence or temples. He was also very thankful to his employers at Mohindra Maini who have supported him from the outset and without whom the experience wouldn’t have been possible.
Mohindra Maini have been proud to support David on such a magnificent cause. Sunil Mohindra of their Commercial department commenting, “It has been a pleasure to have one of our own employees take part in such a brilliant event, we are always ecstatic to assist our staff in such selfless endeavours.”
The next event will be through India this Autumn. David is yet to confirm if he has the energy to take part, although he definitely sees himself riding for Regain again in the future.
